This is a very interesting part of San Pawl il-Bahar with a number of archaeological sites.
At Veccja one finds the popular fountain of Ghajn Razul which according to legend was miraculously produced by St. Pawl.
Two Batteries were built in 1715 to guard the entrance to the bay, one of which was demolished to make room for a new road.
An Aqueduct was constructed on the road to Ghajn Tuffieha dated 1839 to collect water from Tal-Ballut.
In Pwales the pleasant medieval chapel dedicated to St. Anna is set in a milieu of idyllic countryside.
Up Xemxija Hill lies what is known as The Xemxija Heritage Trail which comprises a variety of sites spanning a period of 6000 years: a roman road, a menhir, several caves, an ancient apiary, a 1000 year old carob tree, a neolithic temple, a corbelled hut/ (Girna), a punic tomb, a granary, seven prehistoric tombs, roman baths, cart ruts, Mistra Gate and an underground flour mill built specifically in case of war.
